The Prince William County Police Department's Animal Services Bureau is seeking an Animal Care Supervisor to join our staff and help provide a clean and welcoming facility that offers a high level of care to Prince William County's homeless pets and customers.
About This Role:
Animal Care Supervisors are responsible for supervising all daily activities of the Animal Care staff to ensure clean, appropriate housing environments. They are responsible for the daily flow of the animal population through our facility by managing intakes, behavioral evaluations, rescue coordination, and adoption readiness. The successful candidate will have compassion for animals, have skills to empower staff, strong organizational skills, the ability to handle conflicts, knowledge and experience with a variety of animal species, knowledge of companion animal diseases and medical conditions, animal handling skills, and experience in the supervision of staff.
ALL INTERVIEWS WILL TAKE PLACE AT A PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT FACILITY, AND CANDIDATES WILL BE EXPECTED TO ATTEND IN PERSON.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of related experience in animal care/husbandry and handling.
Preferences:
4 years of experience with job related animal care/husbandry and handling. 1-2 years supervisory experience in any field may substitute for a portion of required animal care experience.
Special Requirements:
Must acquire euthanasia certification within 1 year of employment (training provided) Must possess a valid driver's license Must be able to lift 50lbs Must be able to work with a wide variety of animals, to include those that are aggressive
Work Schedule:
Animal Care Supervisors currently work four- 10-hour days per week on a rotating schedule, including every other weekend work. This is an essential personnel position that will work holidays, will work in the event of county closure, and may be subject to emergency response requirements for bureau needs.
Starting Salary Range :
