Position Summary Animal Encounters Facilitators are frontline interpreters for Wisconsin's largest outdoor living history attraction. Facilitators serve as the link between live animal ambassadors and the public, creating immersive and engaging experiences for guests. In Old World Wisconsin's Animal Encounters interactive space, guests can meet and interact with farm species representative of farm life in rural 19th century Wisconsin. To thrive as an Animal Encounters Facilitator, candidates should enjoy interacting with the public and following guests' interests to share the stories of Wisconsin's past. Previous experience working with domestic animals is recommended. An interest in history is a plus!

Duties:

Facilitate interactions in Animal Encounters by being a knowledgeable guide to the site's animal ambassadors and animal programs. Assist guests with animal interactions, communicating guidelines and safety considerations. Perform daily housekeeping and operational tasks to ensure Animal Encounters is guest ready, including sweeping, cleaning, and resetting equipment. This includes direct contact with hay. Communicate key information about OWW's animal programs, including heritage breed livestock conservation, historic agricultural practices, and animal welfare. Communicate best practices for health and safety, as well as prevention of zoonotic disease transmission to guests interacting with live animals. Facilitate animal programming for guests on OWW grounds and aid Animal Care staff with basic husbandry duties. Facilitate interactions with live animal ambassadors during school tour programs Salary Information Pay is $14.00 per hour with a weekend differential of 80 cents per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 18-00. Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire. Job Details A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job. This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 30 - 40 hours per week. Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions. Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status. Qualifications At least one year experience working with domestic animals is preferred. Excellent communication skills, with groups and one-on-one.
