Job Description
We are seeking Sea Kayak Guides who are enthusiastic, confident, committed, and excited about sharing nature, history, geology, and the beauty of the Maine Coast by sea kayak! Spend the spring, summer, and fall exploring the coastline and islands of Maine while connecting with folks who are excited to learn more about kayaking, the outdoors and the local history! We offer competitive pay rates and opportunities for generous guide tips. We are looking for folks with a strong work ethic, kayaking experience, leadership skills, group management skills, outdoor knowledge (marine biology, geology, ecology, wildlife), and teaching skills who are excited to share with others! We are situated in the idyllic coastal Maine town of historic Castine on Penobscot Bay, with every varied coastal condition! Our 10-12 foot tides, dynamic areas of tidal rips, inshore calm bays and outer bay waters, and varied wildlife, including 3 colonies of seals, make every tour different and exciting! Best of all, our bay is extremely bioluminescent! Each night, we offer kayaking tours to experience the beauty of the bioluminescence, complete with a floating planetarium. If you are excited about guiding kayakers, making a difference, educating folks at night about light pollution and bioluminescence, and helping piece together the interconnectedness of our ocean environment and wildlife, we want to connect with YOU! In your off-time, there is so much to do here and explore as our location is a gateway to Acadia National Park and the great outdoors beyond! We're looking for hardworking, fun-loving, competent individuals who are ready to join a team passionate about paddling and the environment! Great for a seasonal career or a summer job (3 - 6 months)! We hire our staff with a variety of time commitments, so it is not necessary to be available the entire season (i.e. college students). We connect our staff with housing opportunities in our area! •Maine has a high standard which requires a Sea Kayak Guide Training Course, (mid May) testing with the state, and first aid certification to become a Registered Maine Guide. We offer a training course and set up testing for qualified candidates!
Pay Range:
$75-$110+ per 3 hr tour, plus generous tips. If this sounds like you, we'd love you to join our team!!! Apply today!Similar remote jobs
