Job Overview:
The Health Director reports to the Camp Director and will oversee the health and safety of all campers and staff while ensuring compliance with state and local health regulations. This includes managing the camp's health center, maintaining accurate health records, administering medications, responding to health emergencies, and promoting overall wellness throughout the camp community.

The Health Director will collaborate with the Camp Director, Leadership Team, and medical consultants to ensure the camp environment supports physical and emotional wellbeing. The Health Director will ensure best practices in healthcare management, communication with families, and safety standards are upheld in accordance with Oasis Day Camp's mission and values.
Responsibilities:
Safety & Trust Oversee all aspects of camper and staff health and safety in compliance with local and state regulations. Develop, review, and implement camp health and safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain secure, confidential health records for all campers and staff. Administer medications, first aid, and respond to health concerns promptly and professionally. Collaborate with the Camp Director and Health Department to ensure all documentation meets current health standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked health center. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding health issues, incidents, or care plans. Leadership & Collaboration Work closely with the Camp Director and Leadership Team to promote wellness/ safety. Train staff during pre-season and throughout the summer on health procedures, emergency response, and reporting. Serve as a key member of the leadership team, attending meetings and contributing to operational planning. Provide guidance and reassurance to campers and staff regarding medical or wellness concerns. Operational Management Maintain daily logs of all health center visits, treatments, and medications. Manage health supply inventory and ensure appropriate medical and first aid supplies Organize all required health documentation prior to camp opening (e.g., medical forms, medication authorizations). Ensure proper handling and disposal of medical waste and hazardous materials. Develop contingency and emergency plans in coordination with camp administration. Community Health & Wellness Promote positive health habits and hygiene practices throughout camp. Support mental health and wellbeing initiatives in partnership with camp staff Monitor the health of the camp community, identifying and addressing patterns of illness or injury. Educate campers and staff on topics such as hydration, sun safety, nutrition.
Who You Are:

A strong communicator capable of building trust with campers, staff, and parents. Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure. A collaborative leader who works well as part of a team. Compassionate, professional, and dependable.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), EMT, with active certification. Current CPR (one year)and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain before the start of camp). Experience working with children in a healthcare, school, or camp setting preferred. Strong knowledge of Department of Health camp regulations and best practices. Excellent recordkeeping, communication, and interpersonal skills. Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace productivity tools.
