Seasonal Landscape Gardener

Job Summary:

We are looking for a knowledgeable Skilled Gardener/Horticulturalist to help maintain and develop our gardens to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have strong practical horticultural skills, good plant knowledge, and a passion for maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces. Duties /

Responsibilities:

• Carry out general garden maintenance: weeding, pruning, planting, mulching, and edging.
• Maintain borders, hedges, trees, and shrubs to a high standard.
• Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor plant health and manage pests and diseases using safe, sustainable methods.
• Water pots, planted containers, garden beds, and borders as needed, ensuring appropriate moisture levels for plant health.
• Support seasonal planting and garden improvement projects.
• Maintain tidiness and presentation of all garden areas.
• Work independently or as part of a small team.
• Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis.
• Plant and maintain garden beds and lawns.
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects.
• Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, and hand lifting/carrying.
• Assist Crew leader with job-related tasks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to perform work activities.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
• Comply with all company policies and regulations
• Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations Required Skills /

Abilities:

• Previous experience in a professional gardening role.
• Solid understanding of horticultural practices and plant care.
• Competent in using garden machinery (mowers, trimmers, hedge cutters, etc.).
• Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Time management skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
• Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices
• Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
• Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
• Preference will be given to candidates with a valid driver's license and safe driving record

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 season of relevant work experience is preferred.
• Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Requires good manual dexterity
• Excellent stamina is required
• Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
• Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
• Monday - Friday availability, with occasional weekend work

Job Types:

Full-time, Seasonal Pay:

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
