Position Objectives:
An employee in this class performs seasonal work in a range of unskilled and semi-skilled work monitoring splash pad guests and overseeing admission. Must be able to interact with youth, guardians and parents. Attendant is responsible for the daily operation and safety of the town's splash pad facility. This position ensures a positive and safe experience for all patrons by enforcing town policies, regulations, and ordinances. Employees are subject to working in outside environments. Work is also subject to the safety standards set by the Parks and Recreation Commission. Work is performed under the daily supervision of the Athletic Program Superintendent and is reviewed for appearance, productivity, and adherence to work standards through observation, inspection, and feedback from town officials and the public
Duties and Responsibilities:
Enforcing departmental and town policies, regulations, and ordinances as they relate to the use of the Splash Pad. Opening and closing of splash pad Communicating with customers Controlling admission to the splash pad Handling of money and maintaining a safe environment. Maintaining the assigned facilities while in use.
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Demonstrated customer service experience. Ability to effectively communicate with customers and coworkers. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with the public to respond to inquiries about town services. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, and the public. Must be able to physically perform the basic life functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, and hearing. Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to lift or otherwise move objects.
Desirable Training and Experience:
Ability to read and write sufficiently to complete timesheets and/or forms and some experience in supervising children. Recent high school/college graduate or those enrolled in a secondary education institution.
