General Description of Position:
1. Creates learning experiences that make the content accessible and meaningful to all students. 2. Provides learning opportunities that support the intellectual, social, and personal development and growth of all students. 3. Creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners and meet individual needs. 4. Shows an understanding of instructional planning and designs instruction based upon knowledge of appropriate assessments, discipline, students, the community, and curriculum goals. 5. Uses an understanding of both individual and group, motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation! 6. Uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage and document students' growth and development in the areas of critical thinking, problem-solving, and performance skills. 7. Uses knowledge of effective written, verbal, non-verbal, and visual communication techniques to foster active and developmentally appropriate inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom. 8. Incorporates and analyzes various formal and informal assessment strategies to set appropriate growth targets, and support continuous growth and development of all students. 9. Initiates, develops, and maintains professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues, parents/guardians, and the community to support student learning and well being. 10. Continually evaluates how professional choices and actions affect students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community, and actively seeks appropriate opportunities to grow professionally in ways that support continuous improvement and student learning. 11. Maintains high standards of professional conduct, and provides leadership to improve school and home relationships, as well as students' learning and well-being. 12. Works professionally and cooperatively with appropriate school personnel in the identification, diagnosis and remediation of individual student needs. 13. Assists the administration in implementing all policies, expectations and rules governing student behavior/conduct; coordinates classroom expectations and procedures with building and district expectations, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner with respect to all students. 14. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. 15. Plans purposeful tasks and assignments for instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s), and (as appropriate) evaluates job performance in cooperation with the building principal. 16. Respects confidentiality and maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. 17. Performs all assigned duties, serves on building or district committees, and attends staff meetings as may be requested or as established by school policy. 18. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of students; seeks appropriate information and assistance (e.g. translation, collegial consultation, administrative guidance, etc.) as needed to support students' continuous growth and development. 19. Adheres to the published policies and procedures of the district. 20. Performs such other, and not specifically enumerated, duties as may be requested by district administrators, or as established by the
School Code Qualifications:
Professional Educator License required.
