55149BR Security Manager General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Poway California Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity for a Security Manager to join our Industrial Security team located in Poway, CA. Reporting to the General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA‑ASI) Special Program Security Manager, this position manages Alternate Contract Special Security Officers (ACSSOs) in the day‑to‑day execution of all security disciplines for Special Access Programs (SAPs) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) across GA‑ASI. The CSSO Security Manager ensures adequate ACSSO support to projects, supports CSSOs overseeing those projects, ensures proper implementation of applicable U.S. Government policies and procedures (e.g., 32 CFR Part 117, DoD 5205.07 series, DoD 5200.01 series, DoDM 5200.01, and the NISPOM), and provides ACSSO training to ensure compliance with these policies, procedures, and individual program security requirements. This role works closely with the Special Program Security Manager to ensure facility security programs and assigned CSSOs are executed effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with National Policy. This position also serves as an assigned CSSO for multiple SAP and/or SCI projects, coordinating day‑to‑day program security with Program Management and administering security programs and procedures for classified and/or proprietary materials, documents, and equipment. The CSSO Security Manager initiates plans and projects and develops schedules to meet project goals. This position addresses complex security issues and inquiries using comprehensive knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117, the DoD 5205.07 and 5200.01 series, Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), and established policies and practices for safeguarding National Security Information. The role includes strategic and tactical planning for consistent security policies and procedures, maintaining proactive awareness of regulatory changes, and developing preventative standards to ensure compliance. The CSSO Security Manager advises management on current and future programs and makes decisions that impact the department and the broader organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage professional ACSSO staff on a daily basis and coordinate actions to ensure compliance with classified security program requirements. Administer and coordinate security activities with ACSSO staff in accordance with company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with National Policy. Establish and maintain liaison with assigned CSSOs, external customers, contractors, employees, and managers to ensure compliance with National Policy and program requirements. Develop, review, and implement program‑specific security procedures for ACSSO staff, including Program Access Requests, Classified Visit Certifications, training, records, accountability, personnel security, and other disciplines as needed. Analyze, investigate, and resolve classified security issues while providing leadership and guidance to employees, supervisors, managers, and contractors on required corrective actions. Prepare and submit status reports to management, senior leadership, and applicable government agencies, with review as appropriate from security and/or company management. Provide oversight of ACSSO tasking, including development, review, and maintenance of program security documentation. Assist ACSSOs and program management in interpreting, applying, and complying with government security requirements. Provide oversight of SAP and SCI security, including development, review, and maintenance of program security documentation. Participate in internal company and external government audits, reviews, and inspections. Maintain an understanding of ACSSO‑supported program technologies and assigned programs, and a thorough understanding of internal and external customer security requirements. Monitor new and changing laws and regulations and continually review security policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational needs. Coordinate and monitor security activities for the organization, including internal and external audits and security awareness and training for employees. Set up and manage SAPFs in accordance with National Policy (e.g., physical security, facility security and access control, network/IT security, cryptography, personnel security). Manage the annual inventory of accountable holdings in accordance with policies and procedures. Implement and support the company's physical security policies, procedures, and plans within assigned areas, including administration of guard operations, security incident response, and security system maintenance and installation (e.g., cameras, locks, keys, badges, access readers). Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Job Qualifications Typically requires a bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field and eleven or more years of progressive experience in security administration, with at least five of those years in management. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, as well as SAP/SAR and SCI accesses. Must have experience with DoD processes and procedures or an equivalent regulatory environment and/or military training. Must have a thorough understanding of U.S. Government national policies, the
NISP, 32 CFR
Part 117, DoD manuals, and ICDs. Must be able to identify issues and develop solutions to a variety of problems. Must have strong communication, computer, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to initiate and plan projects and analyze and interpret data. Must be able to produce clear, concise, and detailed documentation. Must be able to manage personnel, work independently and in a team environment, and work extended hours and travel as required.
