Security SUMMARY:
Responsible and accountable for creating and maintaining a safe and effective environment for Baxter Health s employees, patients, and visitors.BAXTER HEALTH COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in Healthstream Policy Manager. Required to work with the Director of Security regularly to carryout, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Security Department.JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalentExperience:
Previous Security Officer or law enforcement experience preferred.Commissioning:
Must be able to pass an extensive background check and certify through the Arkansas State Police and Security Training Officer (Director of Security) as an Armed Private Security Officer within two weeks from date of hire.License:
Must have a valid AR driver s license. Will be subject to Arkansas motor vehicle check and must be accepted by hospital insurance carrier.Other:
Must be qualified, or able to qualify, with both a firearm and handcuffs as they apply to the hospital s Use of Force Continuum Must be able to pass department physical fitness, weapon retention and deployment, and defensive tactics examinations. Testing will be administered by the Director of Security or designee. Tactical capability, firearms training, and defensive tactics training are mandatory and ongoing. All officers are required to attend, participate, and show proficiency in each concentration during training sessions under the direction of the Director of Security and designees. Training hours are allotted over normally scheduled work hours. Knowledge to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff Knowledge of the principles and techniques of hospital safety and security practices Must have the ability to defuse and deal with physical and verbal conflicts among visitors and staff as well as respond to emergency calls for security, fire and assistance to local law enforcement agencies Basic computer knowledge requiredPrimary Source Verification:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to read, write, and understand written and oral instructions; able to communicate via 2-way radios. Ability to stand, walk, run, and move rapidly throughout the hospital, up and down stairs, etc., when needed to respond to emergency calls. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and twist and occasionally push, pull and/or lift up to 90 pounds with proper body mechanics. Spends four hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Must have a keen sense of hearing and keen visual acuity. Ability to assist in applying patient restraints as directed by the nursing supervisor. Ability to use jumper cables, etc., to assist disabled vehicles. Driving is required. Work Environment Hospital grounds, and all associated areas, including parking lots and off campus clinics. Required to work in inclement weather, including extreme heat or cold. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
