Security Technician

Description For over 30 years Adirondack has served the New York Capital District and surrounding areas servicing the area's largest commercial, government, and educational institutions. Our team of specially trained technicians and engineers is dedicated to helping our customers build infrastructure to support their technology and safety strategies. Adirondack is looking for a Security Technician to join our team in Albany, NY to focus on the installation and configuration of electronic security (access control, burglary, CCTV, and IP Video), fire, and audio visual solutions. You will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of customers' security systems, as well as providing onsite and remote technical expertise for diagnosing client issues. This is a field position that requires travel to customers' locations in the New York Capital District and surrounding areas. Essential Functions Installation and maintenance of access control and IP Video Surveillance systems, including the setup, programming, configuration and integration of the security systems as per the client requirements Diagnosis of client issues such as security software, CCTV hardware and computer components and software Work with Project Managers to meet project deadlines Read all project specifications ensuring systems are delivered as per customer expectations Provide end users with training, manuals, and as-built diagrams Provide accurate and up to date documentation on all items installed and configured Interact in a positive and professional manner with all customers, consultants and trades Keep documentation and systems and configurations to be turned over at the end of the project Basic Requirements 4+ years of experience working in electronic security or related field Highly self-motivated to solve problems efficiently Detail oriented, and capable of following floor plans and layouts. Demonstrate strong customer service skills Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities Ability to quickly learn new skills and information, and retain that knowledge Proficient computer literacy proven through work experience or education Capable of effectively working at a height of 30 feet in the air. Able to work with minimal supervision ensuring that all cabling/security installation work completed meets all code requirements in the jurisdiction that the work is being completed. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors or Associates degree in a related field (Information Technology, Communications, Business, Criminal Justice, etc.) Experience working with Physical Access Control and IP Surveillance Systems (e.g., Lenel, s2, Milestone, etc.), or associated hardware Experience working with and administering Windows client/server operating systems Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server Experience working with PowerShell or other scripting languages
