The St. Ignace News & Mackinac Island Town Crier The St. Ignace News and Mackinac Island Town Crier are seeking a dynamic, community-focused Selling Publisher to lead the continued growth and success of two well-established local publications serving the Eastern Upper Peninsula and Mackinac Island communities. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced sales professional who thrives on building relationships, growing revenue, and leading a local media operation. The ideal candidate will have strong ties to the area business community and a passion for supporting local journalism. Position Overview The Selling Publisher will oversee all day-to-day operations of the publications, including advertising sales, editorial coordination, circulation, and administrative functions. This position includes an established book of business and offers significant income growth opportunity through performance-based bonuses. Compensation Base salary starting at $60,000 Bonus potential bringing total compensation to approximately $90,000-$100,000 annually Existing book of business provided Unlimited ferry pass to Mackinac Island Paid time off and benefits package available Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, tourism partners, community organizations, and advertisers Grow print and digital advertising revenue through new business development and account management Lead and support editorial, circulation, and administrative staff Oversee daily operations of both publications to ensure efficiency and professionalism Work collaboratively with staff to maintain high-quality local news coverage and customer service Represent the publications at community events, business functions, and networking opportunities Manage budgets, sales goals, and operational performance Identify new revenue opportunities, sponsorships, and special publications Qualifications Proven advertising sales and business development experience Strong leadership and team management skills Established relationships within the St. Ignace, Mackinac Island, or surrounding business communities strongly preferred Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities Media, publishing, tourism, or local business experience preferred Understanding of print and digital advertising solutions is a plus About Us The St. Ignace News and Mackinac Island Town Crier are trusted local news publications dedicated to serving residents, businesses, and visitors throughout the region.
