Job Description:
A growing construction firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team, reporting directly to the Controller. The Senior Accountant opportunity offers strong exposure to month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and multi-entity accounting within a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The Senior Accountant will bring strong accounting fundamentals, an understanding of core accounting processes, and the ability to independently research and resolve issues while supporting a high-volume accounting function. Key Responsibilities Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items Assist with financial statement preparation and general ledger analysis Handle bank reconciliations, cash activity, and cash management functions Partner with Accounts Payable and internal departments to ensure accurate coding and timely processing of transactions Assist with audit requests, supporting documentation, and reporting requirements Support multi-entity accounting activities and intercompany transactions Maintain organized backup documentation and support schedules for accounting processes Research discrepancies and proactively resolve accounting issues Assist with process improvements and optimization of accounting workflows and month-end close procedures Work cross-functionally with project management, operations, and leadership teams as needed Exposure to construction-related accounting processes including job costing, lien waivers, AIA billing documentation, and project close-out procedures is a plus Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 3+ years of accounting experience within public accounting and/or industry Strong understanding of month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting Ability to analyze balance sheet accounts and understand supporting backup documentation Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously Experience with ERP/accounting systems; Sage Intacct experience is a plus CPA or CPA-track is a plus Construction or real estate accounting exposure is beneficial but not required
