Primarily onsite (5 days/week) with some flexibility About the Opportunity A well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. This organization is dedicated to advancing civic engagement and educational programming nationwide, supporting students and educators through impactful, real-world learning experiences. With over 100 employees and a collaborative accounting team of four, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to make a meaningful impact while growing into leadership. The hiring manager is open to leveling this role up to Accounting Manager for the right candidate. Why This Role Stands Out Mission-focused organization with a national reach and meaningful impact Clear path to growth , with potential to step into a Controller role Strong compensation : $125K–$130K (flexibility for exceptional candidates with CPA and deep nonprofit experience) Outstanding benefits package , including: ~90% employer-paid healthcare premiums Cell phone reimbursement Free gym membership Paid parking + metro subsidy 403(b) retirement plan Generous time off, including extended holiday closures (winter break, July 4th, Thanksgiving) Key Responsibilities Lead and support month-end close processes Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations Assist with revenue recognition processes Contribute to automation initiatives across AP and payment workflows Support grant accounting and compliance Partner cross-functionally to improve financial processes and reporting Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience CPA or CPA in progress strongly preferred Experience in nonprofit accounting required Knowledge of grant accounting and compliance Strong understanding of fixed assets and depreciation (seeking an internal subject matter expert) Systems-savvy with a process improvement mindset Ideal Candidate Detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative Comfortable in a mid-sized, mission-driven environment Interested in growth and taking on increasing responsibility over time If you're looking for a high-impact role with strong leadership visibility and long-term growth potential, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a meaningful position within a respected nonprofit organization. #
