Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a finance team in Illinois. This role is suited for someone who can manage core accounting activities, support accurate financial reporting, and help maintain strong month-end processes. The ideal candidate brings solid experience with inventory-related accounting and is comfortable working across the general ledger to ensure timely and reliable results.
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly closing activities by preparing entries, reviewing account activity, and helping deliver accurate results within established deadlines.
- Maintain the general ledger by recording financial transactions and verifying that balances are complete and properly supported.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure reporting is accurate, organized, and aligned with company requirements.
- Perform account reconciliations on a regular basis, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Complete bank reconciliations by comparing internal records to external statements and following up on outstanding items.
- Support inventory accounting by monitoring related transactions, validating balances, and assisting with reporting tied to stock activity.
- Create and post journal entries with appropriate documentation and a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Contribute to process improvements within accounting operations, including support for changes to systems or workflows when needed. Requirements
- At least 5 years of accounting experience in a detail-oriented accounting environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Hands-on experience managing month-end close activities and meeting reporting deadlines.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation.
- Proven ability to prepare journal entries and complete detailed account reconciliations.
- Experience performing bank reconciliations and researching variances effectively.
- Familiarity with inventory accounting concepts and related financial reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
