Recognition awards, company events, family events, university discount options, gender pay equality, and additional company perks Sterling Engineering is seeking an Automation and PLC Senior Engineer to design, develop, and implement advanced automation solutions that improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and system performance. This role involves hands-on PLC programming, robotics integration, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify and execute automation opportunities. The ideal candidate will also contribute to innovation strategy and present technical solutions to senior leadership.
Job Duties :
  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions to streamline internal processes and workflows
  • Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts for new tools, systems, and technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and operations to identify automation opportunities
  • Develop PLC logic and robotic programs
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into automation systems
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize automation systems for performance and reliability
  • Document systems, processes, and best practices for scalability and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to innovation strategy by identifying new areas where automation can create value
  • Present concepts, findings, and proof-of-concept results to senior leadership
Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree required in engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience programming industrial automated equipment
  • Strong experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming
  • Experience with robotics, vision systems, motion control, and pneumatic systems
  • Strong understanding of automation system design, integration, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional engineering environments
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
