Senior Bridge Engineer - South Burlington, VT & Bedford, NH (Employee-Owned Firm | Hybrid Flexibility | Growth Opportunity)A well‑established, employee‑owned engineering firm with a strong reputation throughout New England and nationally is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to support continued growth within its Bridge Practice. This individual will take on a visible leadership role involving technical execution, task management, staff development, and selective business development support.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in municipal and state transportation projects and is motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of a collaborative, employee‑focused organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and perform structural design in accordance with AASHTO LRFD and
Utilize bridge design software such as MIDAS for analysis and modeling.
Support projects for agencies such as state DOTs (e.g., NHDOT, VTrans).Mentor, coach, and develop junior and mid‑level staff.
Prepare and review complex engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Oversee design of bridges and structural elements including:
Concrete and precast decksSteel and concrete superstructuresIntegral and semi‑integral abutmentsWingwalls, culverts, retaining wallsManage technical tasks, workflow, and staff assignments.
Provide operational and project management support to the Bridge Discipline Lead.
Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final design packages.
Maintain quality control, client coordination, and daily oversight on assigned projects.
Qualifications8+ years of professional bridge engineering experience.
BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
PE license strongly preferred.
Demonstrated technical expertise with complex bridge projects.
Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.Strong working knowledge of AASHTO design guidelines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
