Overview Drive theater-level campaign planning for INDOPACOM's highest-priority missions. You'll translate strategic guidance into executable operations, synchronize across military components, and shape real-world plans that defend critical interests in the Indo-Pacific. THE MISSION
Lead high-impact campaign planning for INDOPACOM's Joint Taiwan Task Force within the J5. You'll develop, refine, and synchronize theater and contingency plans that translate strategic guidance into executable operations. This role demands an experienced planner who can drive cross-component alignment and accelerate operational integration across the Indo-Pacific theater.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Develop, revise, and synchronize theater and contingency campaign planning products for the Joint Taiwan Task Force within
INDOPACOM J5
Translate strategic and theater guidance into operationally executable planning frameworks, including objectives, lines of effort, supporting activities, decision points, and assessment mechanisms Lead cross-component synchronization among
INDOPACOM
staff, service components, functional components, SOF elements, joint task forces, and mission partners Align campaign planning across headquarters, subordinate components, and operational stakeholders to reduce friction, resolve disconnects, and accelerate staff integration Apply Joint Planning Process (JPP/JOPP) to campaign and contingency planning efforts, including mission analysis, COA development, plan refinement, and senior leader decision support Produce high-quality planning outputs including campaign support plans, synchronization matrices, operational approaches, executive summaries, briefing materials, and decision-quality staff packages Integrate SOF, conventional, interagency, allied, and partner considerations into campaign planning
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor's degree required 10+ years of relevant military, joint, interagency, or defense planning experience 5+ years of experience in joint, combined, combatant command, component command, or task force-level planning Recent Indo-Pacific experience required, including direct support to INDOPACOM, subordinate component, TSOC, service component headquarters, joint task force, or equivalent theater mission Demonstrated experience with campaign planning, theater planning, contingency planning, or operational design at the operational or strategic level Proven ability to distinguish practical planning execution from purely conceptual or doctrinal knowledge Experience developing planning products that were staffed, briefed, approved, exercised, or used to inform operations Strong experience in cross-component coordination and operational synchronization Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leaders and convert broad guidance into actionable planning direction Familiarity with campaign planning tools and processes, including operational design, synchronization matrices, campaign assessment frameworks, decision support products, and staff planning workflows Active TS/SCI clearance or ability to satisfy mission access requirements immediately upon assignment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in
Strategic Studies, Defense Analysis, Security Studies, Business Administration, Public Policy, or Operations Research Advanced Operational Planning Schools:
JAWS, SAMS, MAWS, JCWS, JPME
Senior PME:
CGSC, ILE, USMC
CSC, MAGTF, NCSC, War College Professional Certificates:
PMP, CMP
Background working within or alongside USINDOPACOM, another Combatant Command staff, Service component staff, or HQ element Special Operations Forces (SOF) background strongly preferred Significant experience serving as a campaign planner in joint, combined, or theater-level headquarters Experience supporting Taiwan-related planning, deterrence planning, crisis response planning, or campaigning in contested environments Experience integrating SOF capabilities, authorities, access considerations, and partner-force relationships into broader campaign frameworks Background in joint or combined operations involving allies, partners, and interagency stakeholders Experience leading planning teams or synchronization efforts under compressed timelines and senior-level visibility Demonstrated success in accelerating alignment between
