Job Description

Job Summary Walgreens legal department is seeking an experienced and business-oriented Senior Attorney to support its Retail Media Network (Walgreens Advertising Group), operating at the intersection of retail, advertising, technology, data and privacy. This role will serve as a key legal advisor to cross-functional stakeholders, enabling innovative advertising, data monetization, and digital media solutions while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Key Responsibilities Commercial & Product Counseling Provide legal support for retail media products, including onsite, offsite, and in-store advertising offerings delivered through Walgreens digital properties and third-party platforms. Partner with business teams to structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements with advertisers, agencies, ad tech vendors, and data partners. Data Privacy & Advertising Compliance Counsel on data use, activation, and measurement activities within the Retail Media Network, including data onboarding, pseudonymization, audience targeting, and attribution frameworks. Ensure compliance with privacy, marketing, and consumer protection laws (including digital advertising, health data, and sensitive data considerations). Support governance of first-party and partner data used to build audiences and deliver targeted advertising solutions. Ad Tech & Vendor Contracting Lead negotiation of agreements with key ecosystem partners (e.g., DSPs, data onboarding providers, measurement vendors, and media platforms). Advise on legal risks associated with programmatic media activations and third-party integrations. Regulatory & Risk Management Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across media activation channels, measurement practices, and data monetization strategies. Develop and implement scalable legal frameworks, templates, and guardrails to support business growth. Cross-Functional Leadership Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders within Walgreens Advertising Group. Job Responsibilities Primarily leverages knowledge of legal specialty in providing counsel as it builds its knowledge of the business context in which it operates. Review and prepare legal documents prior to presentation to management for execution to ensure accurate expression of the legal content. May receive specific direction from management or more senior law professionals as to the outcomes, process and schedules expected. Collaborates with the business units that it serves in order to achieve corporate objectives and mitigate unnecessary business risk. Research legal principles and precedents, engage and manage outside counsel, draft legal documents, gather relevant case related information using multiple sources and methods, provide work guidance to other professional, paraprofessional and support staff in developing solutions to problems presented. Maintain currency and fluency in the legal and business trends that could impact those business units within Walgreens that it serves. Basic Qualifications Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and at least 5 years of post-bar attorney legal work experience in a combination of law firm and corporate settings. Required licensure to practice law in at least one state. Required Illinois bar membership or active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates. At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership. Salary Range:
$165900 - $282200 /
Salaried Qualifications:
