Senior Developer

Description This manufacturing client is seeking a Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer to lead the design and development of web applications supporting energy optimization and grid operations. This role requires deep Rails expertise, strong front-end architecture experience using Hotwire (Turbo & Stimulus), and hands-on AWS deployment experience. The position is a 6-month contract-to-hire with the intent to convert to full-time and work onsite. Additional Skills & Qualifications Qualifications:

• 9+ years of recent professional experience in full-stack Ruby on Rails development
• Expert-level knowledge of the Rails framework (version 7+) and its core libraries
• A strong command of automated testing strategies and rools (Rspec, Capybara, etc.)
• Experience building modern Rails front-end applications using Turbo and Stimulus
• A commitment to good UX principles and an active interest in modern web design
• Experience with and commitment to automated testing for both front
• and back-end functionality
• Strong understanding of web application architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
• Proficiency using git and experience with GitHub Enterprise and GitHub actions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain Ruby on Rails applications in the energy space.
• Collaborate with business and operational stakeholders to define, plan, and deliver new features.
• Maintain front-end design standards for aesthetics, usability, and clean markup.
• Work with other team members to build beautiful user interfaces.
• Participate in the design and architecture of new systems and applications.
• Ensure code quality and maintainability by writing tests, conducting code reviews, and following industry best practices.
• Assist in shared DevOps duties including infrastructure management and code deployment.
• Rearchitect and refactor core application components for efficiency improvements and to reduce technical debt.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers.

Differentiators:

• Experience deploying containerized Rails applications at scale to AWS cloud services
• Figma and graphic design tools
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and related protocols (modbus, DNP3, MQTT, etc)
• Experience with IoT systems and data streaming applications
• Data Streaming (Flink, Kafka, Kinesis, etc.)
