Job Description
SMX is seeking a Senior Director of Finance who will provide strategic financial leadership over a multi-billion-dollar contract, collaborating closely with contract leadership and external government stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. This role will lead the assessment, restructuring, and development of the Financial Analyst team, fostering a high-performance culture through mentorship and clear accountability. The director will establish and optimize scalable business processes, develop robust reporting frameworks, and drive continuous improvement in financial operations. Key responsibilities include ownership of both program-level and corporate financial reporting, development and execution of financial strategies, risk mitigation, and ensuring compliance with all relevant contract and regulatory requirements. The Senior Director will champion process improvements, implement best-in-class practices for budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, and contribute to the division's strategic financial goals. Proven experience in leading cross-functional collaboration, supporting professional development, and enhancing financial systems is essential for this position.
- This position requires the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial Strategy and Leadership
- + Develop and execute financial strategies to support the program's long-term growth, profitability, and objectives.
- Financial Operations and Risk Management
- + Drive process improvements to optimize financial operations for efficiency and accuracy.
- Leadership and Team Development
- + Assess the current state of the financial organization within the contract and design, plan, and implement the future state.
Required Skills/Experience:
- + Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including experience in government contracting or DoD-related industries.
