Job Description
Senior Director, Security, Risk, and Compliance Platform corporate_fare Google place Sunnyvale, CA, USA bar_chart Director+ Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 15 years of experience in software engineering. 8 years of experience in a technical leadership and people management role, including experience managing managers and leading multi-leveled engineering teams. Experience in designing, building, and securing large-scale, distributed systems and platform-level services.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Security, or a related technical field. Experience architecting and delivering platforms designed to meet major regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO, SOC, PCI, FedRAMP). Experience building and leading high-performing engineering organizations at a hyperscale cloud provider. Experience applying AI/ML to solve complex security, risk, or compliance problems. Expertise in risk and compliance engineering, risk management, or security platform architecture. Ability to translate deep technical complexity into business outcomes and influence executives and senior technical leaders across a large, matrixed organization. About the job As Senior Director, you will build and lead a critical engineering organization within the Cloud CISO team. You will be responsible for the outlook, strategy, and execution of platforms that automate and revolutionize how Google Cloud manages security, risk, and compliance. In this role, you will combine deep technical expertise with a passion for building and mentoring high-performing, multi-leveled engineering teams. Your mission is to lead the charge in engineering away systemic risks and building a data-driven, automated future for compliance and security assertions across the entire Google Cloud technical stack, including our AI products and infrastructure. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $365,000-$505,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Build, lead, and mentor an organization of software engineers and technical leaders focused on creating scalable, automated platforms for security, risk, and compliance. Lead the architecture and development of centralized, strategic capabilities, such as a unified obligation database, automated evidence repositories, and scalable compliance telemetry. Define and drive the multi-year technical outlook, strategy, and roadmap for the platform, ensuring it addresses top risks such as software supply chain security, AI compliance, and automated evidence gathering. Partner with and influence senior leaders (i.e., Vice Presidents, Fellows, Distinguished Engineers) across Google to align on priorities and drive accountability for risk and compliance outcomes. Foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and proactive risk management, developing the next generation of technical leaders.
