Job Summary:
Maintains JBS and PT6A aircraft engines at the highest quality and safety standards. Maintains and assists in maintenance and troubleshooting of engine related problems. Makes all proper entries in the aircraft maintenance records (781s). Assists the lead person in supervising the maintenance activities of assigned personnel. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:- Disassembles, inspects, and reassembles J85 and PT6A aircraft engines and engine components as required in the performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
- Removes and installs T-6 and T-38 engines.
- Conducts in-process inspections of the work of other engine mechanics.
- Enforces use of the applicable work cards and technical data
- Enforces and accomplishes correct engine rigging procedures for both installed and uninstalled engines (J85 and PT6A) and required operational checks.
- Completes and/or checks all paperwork/MIS entries associated with the cleaning and ordering of parts.
- Makes and/or checks proper entries required in the aircraft maintenance records (78ls) or engine woit packages for engine maintenance and troubleshooting actions.
- Conducts inspections of engine and aircraft maintenance to ensure quality and completeness.
- Completes and ensures completion of all necessary manual and automated records required by USAF and Company directives.
- Participates in and ensures compliance with established F OD prevention, housekeeping, tool control, environmental and safety programs.
- Enforces compliance with all maintenance data requirements within qualifications and conducts inspections of engine and aircraft maintenance to ensure quality and completeness.
- Maintains special tools and support equipment.
- In coordination with the section supervisor and the training specialist provides on-the-job training of new employees.
- Assists and instructs less skilled personnel in correct maintenance procedures.
- Assists
- section lead and in his/her absence performs the duties of the lead as required.
- In FLSU, remove and install aft aircraft section, aircraft panels, raise and lower windscreens associated with engine mechanic activities. Page 2 of 2
- Follows technical data, manual, regulations Oversees and conducts engine runs and ensures serviceability, and other maintenance directives as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Knowledge:
- A thorough knowledge of J85 and PT6A engine maintenance and the use of technical orders, code manuals, and inspection work cards is required.
Education:
- Completion of high school or the equivalent is required.
- Completion of specialized courses is desired.
- The ability to read and write and to comprehend technical data is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience as an engine mechanic is required.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is necessary to obtain flight line driving privileges
Special Considerations:
- Senior engine mechanics assigned to the test cell must be certified to run J85 engines on AF 32ff4 test cells.
- Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability are required.
Working Conditions:
- Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line and requires extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be physically capable of performing all assigned duties.
- Normal color vision is required.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs M1 Support Services, headquartered in Westlake, Texas provides a variety of professional, technical, and maintenance services to the Department of Defense and government agencies.
