We are looking for a highly motivated and technically strong Senior Engineer, Automation & Controls to join our Bethune team and help shape the future of our operations through smart engineering solutions. What You'll Do As a key member of our engineering team, you will lead and support automation and controls projects that directly impact operational performance, efficiency, quality, and safety.

Your responsibilities will include:

Designing and developing electrical and automation control systems for manufacturing applications Leading capital projects from concept through implementation, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution Supporting manufacturing operations by troubleshooting and resolving technical issues Developing customized automation and safety solutions using PLCs, HMIs, robotics, communication networks, and electrical systems Collaborating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver high-quality solutions Creating technical documentation including electrical drawings, network diagrams, programming documentation, and user manuals Supporting commissioning, startup, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives Ensuring all projects meet safety standards, engineering requirements, and operational expectations You'll have the opportunity to work with advanced technologies including: Allen Bradley PLCs RSLogix 5000 Industrial robotics Servo systems VFDs HMI/Touchscreen systems Industrial communication networks Vision and inspection systems What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience 3-5 years of experience in automation, controls, or industrial engineering Strong knowledge of electrical and controls system design in manufacturing environments Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Indusoft, Allen Bradley, and industrial automation systems Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills Strong organizational and project management capabilities Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse teams Excellent verbal and written communication skills Why Join Suominen?
