Job Description

The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

40 Position Overview The Senior Release of Information (ROI) Analyst is a highly skilled expert responsible for leading, coordinating, and supporting advanced ROI operations. Safeguards and protects patients' rights to privacy and ensures all hospital and Capital Health Medical Group (CHMG) record requests and releases are in compliance with hospital policy, HIPAA, state and federal regulations. Acts as a subject matter expert for ROI workflows, mentors ROI team members, assists with process improvements, and collaborates with leadership to maintain a compliant and efficient ROI program.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of all state and federal release of information regulatory requirements. RHIT or RHIA preferredExperience:
Three years' previous ROI experience preferred; exhibiting strong leadership skillsOther Credentials:
Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced knowledge of ROI related state and federal regulatory requirements. Proficient use of multiple disparate EMR systemsSpecial Training:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Bi-lingual preferredMental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities:

8 Hours Reporting Relationships Does this position formally supervise employees? No If set to YES, then this position has the authority (delegated) to hire, terminate, discipline, promote or effectively recommend such to manager.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinates workflow within release of information area to assure appropriate and accurate prioritization and fulfillment of release of information requests are processed as soon as possible for all requesters. Participates in a collaborative teamwork environment and serves as a resource to ROI Analysts. Shares expertise in ROI with team members to resolve complex RO issues and build skill level and proficiency. Conducts internal reviews to ensure accurate and timely processing of requests for release of information. Assists with escalated customer concerns, disputes, or clarifications. Assists with complex ROI scenarios and works with HIM management to determine the appropriate response. Assists with onboarding, training, and mentoring of new ROI staff. Validates requestor identity and verify the authority of record requests, subpoenas, and consent forms. Validates requests for records and ensures that accurate records are released as requested and adheres to minimum necessary standard. Processes medical record requests with a high level of accuracy, adherence to required turnaround times and delivering excellent customer service. Exhibits critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound judgement calls. Meets or exceeds departmental accuracy and productivity standards. Supports Risk Management and Legal teams to ensure medical record requests are fulfilled accurately and timely. Gathers patient record information from several EMR systems to fulfill record requests and generate invoices when applicable in accordance with HIPAA, state and federal standards. Logs requests for medical records into the Release of Information tracking system. Attach copies of request letters into the tracking system and scan requests into the ROI tab in patient charts. Escalates any missing, incomplete, or incorrectly indexed medical record documents to management for resolution. Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements related to ROI.
