In Person Salary:
$75,000 annually About the Role A growing high-end residential design-build company in Monmouth County, NJ is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join its design department. This role is ideal for an experienced designer who is creative, organized, client-facing, and comfortable serving as a strong senior presence within the department. The Senior Interior Designer will manage active design projects from concept through production handoff while also supporting junior designers, reviewing work, improving department standards, and helping keep the design workflow moving efficiently. The right candidate must be able to balance creativity with structure, client expectations, budget awareness, and real-world construction needs. This is a hands-on design role that requires strong communication, leadership, organization, flexibility, accountability, and a willingness to use modern tools, including AI, to improve efficiency and quality. Key Responsibilities Lead client design meetings with confidence, professionalism, and clarity Understand each client's goals, lifestyle, budget, and vision for the space Create thoughtful, functional residential design concepts Guide clients through finish selections, materials, fixtures, and design details Prepare design presentations, mood boards, finish plans, and selection documents Manage multiple active design projects from concept through production handoff Ensure all design details, selections, approvals, and notes are accurately documented Review designs for accuracy, completeness, and buildability before handoff Coordinate closely with sales, operations, project management, and field teams Identify potential design, scope, budget, or construction issues before they become problems Support junior designers with feedback, selections, client communication, and process questions Provide constructive feedback that helps improve quality, consistency, and department standards Help improve design templates, workflows, and internal processes Use and learn AI tools to support design research, concept development, documentation, workflow efficiency, and presentation quality Keep projects moving forward by communicating clearly, following up, and managing competing priorities What We're Looking For 4+ years of interior design, residential design, construction design, or related experience Strong residential space planning and finish selection experience Experience working directly with clients or homeowners Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Enscape Comfortable using and learning AI tools to improve productivity, organization, design development, and internal workflows Ability to create designs that are beautiful, functional, and realistic to build Comfortable supporting, mentoring, or guiding less-experienced designers Exceptional communication and organization skills Strong multitasking abilities and flexibility in managing competing priorities Highly detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate documentation Confident decision-maker who can move work forward without constant direction Collaborative and willing to work closely with internal teams Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing company Construction or design-build experience is a plus Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is creative, practical, organized, and confident. They can lead a client through the design process, make smart recommendations, and document details clearly so the project can move smoothly into production. This person should also be comfortable acting as a senior resource within the department. They should be able to mentor others, give helpful feedback, support consistency, and help raise the overall standard of the design team. We are looking for someone who can own their projects, support the team, embrace new tools, and help create beautiful, buildable spaces with clear communication from start to finish.
