Duties:

Prepares and paints or varnishes interior or exterior building surfaces and allied equipment; mixes colors, as required; assists in hanging wallpaper. Uses a variety of hand and power tools in construction, remodeling, or repairing doors, window frames, floors, cabinets, furniture or make concrete forms, as required. Inspects, repairs, and installs a wide variety of electrical equipment, fixtures, and wiring. Mixes and applies cement or plaster to floors, walls, ceilings; lays brick and tiles and finishes tile flooring; makes repairs to tile roofs, as required. Supervises personnel assigned to assist in performing one or more of maintenance duties as required. Installs and repairs roofing and siding; performs related mechanical operations. Nassau County Civil Service Requirements Including:

Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in a variety of skilled trades. Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in a variety of trades. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks. Ability to direct personnel assigned to assist in performing maintenance tasks. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with associates.
