Share Share Email Post Share Precipart, located in Farmingdale, NY, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership in the development, optimization, and support of manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, quality, cost-effectiveness, and scalability across production operations while supporting new product introductions, continuous improvement initiatives, and ongoing manufacturing needs. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to ensure robust, compliant, and sustainable manufacturing performance aligned with business objectives. Due to the nature of our business and the requirement to access export-controlled technical data, this role is limited to individuals who qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Process Development & Optimization Develop, improve, and validate manufacturing processes, methods, tooling, and equipment to meet product, quality, and cost requirements. Evaluate manufacturing processes through data analysis, operator feedback, and collaboration with equipment and tooling vendors. Improve manufacturing efficiency through workflow analysis, space utilization, equipment layout, and process standardization. Develop and manage internal and external tooling designs, drawings, and specifications. Quality & Process Control Lead or support PPAP activities, including preparation and review of process flow diagrams, FMEAs, control plans, PSWs, and supporting documentation. Review and update PPAP, FMEA, and control plans based on historical performance and production data. Flow down applicable quality and PPAP requirements to sub-tier suppliers. Assure product and process quality by designing and validating testing methods, establishing standards, and confirming process capability. Monitor and analyze manufacturing nonconformities, vendor issues, and process deviations; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies. Develop manufacturing improvement proposals and present recommendations to management, including cost, efficiency, scrap reduction, and make-vs-buy analysis. Support cost reduction initiatives through process optimization, alternative methods, and supplier collaboration. Cross-Functional & Customer Support Partner with design engineering to support design for manufacturability (DFM), scalability, and process robustness. Support customer contracts, audits, and technical requirements related to manufacturing and process control. Interface with sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to resolve technical issues and optimize production methods. Support product quotation activities through process input, cost modeling, and feasibility assessments. Documentation & Change Management Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including SOPs, work instructions, validation reports, and process specifications. Review and implement engineering change notices (ECNs) and manufacturing changes in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality system requirements (e.g., ISO). Leadership & Knowledge Sharing Serve as a technical resource and mentor to engineers, quality, and manufacturing personnel. Train cross-functional teams on manufacturing processes, quality requirements, and standardized procedures as applicable. Quality Management System Responsible for conforming with the company's quality management system requirements, as well as contributing to its overall effectiveness, and the ultimate goals of customer satisfaction, product compliance and ethical practices/behavior. Primary Focus Area Senior Manufacturing Engineers may be assigned a primary focus area (e.g., PPAP and quality, process and equipment development, or operational excellence and cost optimization). This designation reflects current business needs and individual expertise and does not limit responsibility for supporting the full scope of the role.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required. Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a regulated or high-precision manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience developing, optimizing, and validating manufacturing processes, methods, tooling, and/or equipment. Hands-on experience supporting production operations, including troubleshooting complex manufacturing issues, and implementing corrective actions. Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives, including efficiency, cost reduction, scrap reduction, and process standardization. Experience supporting quality and process control activities, including process capability analysis, validation, and documentation. Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, operations, supply chain, and commercial teams. Experience supporting engineering change management (ECNs) and manufacturing changes. Experience providing technical input for quoting, feasibility assessments, or cost modeling. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication and assembly methods, tooling, materials, and production equipment. Proficiency in process analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action methodologies. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles; Six Sigma tools strongly preferred. Ability to interpret customer contracts, engineering drawings, and technical specifications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical recommendations to management. Ability to lead initiatives, influence cross-functional teams, and mentor others without direct authority. Proficiency with standard engineering and manufacturing documentation practices (SOPs, work instructions, validation reports). Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO). PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION
Experience with PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and customer-specific quality requirements. Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification. Experience in precision machining, medical device, aerospace, or similarly regulated manufacturing environments.
Pay Range:
$85,000 to $110,000 annual salary
