Role Summary:
The Powerplant Planner is a subject matter expert in developing and managing the complex engine powerplant planning at Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions in forecasting models for delivery of engine maintenance services and provides recommendations to address business challenges or problems in area of expertise.
Key Duties:
This individual contributor guarantees the development of the comprehensive engine maintenance plan. The planner brings a deep understanding of engine systems, maintenance procedures, and FAA compliance, enabling the creation of technically sound, efficient, and executable maintenance strategies. Manage communications with both internal and external resources to ensure the safe and compliant delivery of engine maintenance services. Develops both tactical and strategic plans for scheduled engine removals, effective utilization of spare engines and Auxiliary Power Units (APUs). Manages the year-round execution of engine maintenance plans, continuously tracking performance metrics, and operational effectiveness, while supporting effective communication with technicians and engineers to ensure planned tasks align with real-world shop capabilities and maintenance best practices. Leveraging A&P certification, this role must interpret maintenance data, understand the root cause of performance deviations, and validate technical decisions with practical insight. Manages planned engine removals, Powerplant Engineering, Line and Vendor Maintenance, Engine Build-Up Shop, and Stores. Plans and schedules borescopes, inspections, and other time-controlled engine events. Manages aircraft routing requests with SOC-DSO/PSM, Flight Training, Charter Planning, Crew Scheduling, Maintenance Control, Customer Services, and Maintenance Planning. Ensures parts and materials are scheduled/routed to the job site to support the planned workload. Analyzes aircraft change requests and administers equipment changes in an effort to maintain the performance of the daily operation due to mechanical issues, crewing, weather, flight delays, flight cancellations, and other special considerations. Manages the scheduling of Engineering Controls (ECs), Airworthiness Directives, and Technical Service Requests (TSRs) for engines and APUs. Establishes the priority for the EBU shop workload on task card completion and the build-up of AS or leased engines and APUs. Develops reports as required for the ongoing management of the maintenance program. Maintains knowledge of TRAX functions as they pertain to the planning environment and maintain and update forecasts in respect to the duty assignment.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:
Required A minimum of 4 years' experience in maintenance planning, aircraft routing, aviation operations, aviation business analytics, aviation engineering, or airline aircraft and engine maintenance environment. Bachelor's degree in related field, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of degree. FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Ability to work independently and achieve results with limited oversight or guidance. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum age of 18. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Experience using TRAX, Tableau, or other data management tools.

Salary Range:
$117,700 - $176,550 / year
Salary Details:
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
