Job Description

Position Summary The Senior Mechanical/Plumbing Project Manager is responsible for leading industrial and large-scale commercial mechanical and plumbing construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role provides operational leadership across project execution, estimating support, financial management, manpower planning, procurement, scheduling, customer communication, and field coordination. This is a senior-level operational role requiring extensive experience working directly for mechanical or plumbing contractors on commercial, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, mission critical, or large-scale construction projects. Candidates with primarily residential or multifamily experience will not be considered. The ideal candidate possesses strong project financial management skills including forecasting, labor tracking, cost-to-complete analysis, billing, change order management, and overall project profitability oversight. This position is based in the GEMCO South office in Charlotte, NC. Primary Responsibilities and Duties Lead and manage multiple mechanical/plumbing construction projects from planning through completion Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and construction requirements Develop conceptual budgets, estimates, takeoffs, proposals, and scope reviews Manage project schedules, procurement, manpower planning, subcontractors, and field coordination Maintain full financial ownership of projects including forecasting, labor productivity, billing, change orders, job cost tracking, and margin management Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, engineers, vendors, general contractors, and customers throughout project execution Identify and resolve operational challenges, project risks, and schedule impacts Conduct project meetings, jobsite visits, and customer reviews to maintain quality and schedule expectations Support preconstruction efforts, turnover meetings, and estimating strategy Mentor project teams and support process improvement initiatives within the department Build and maintain strong customer and industry relationships to support long-term business growth Requirements 10+ years of mechanical/plumbing construction experience required 5+ years of Project Management experience within a mechanical or plumbing contractor environment Strong industrial and commercial construction background required Experience with project forecasting, labor management, billing, change orders, and financial reporting Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents Experience with estimating, takeoffs, and preconstruction support preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, and construction/project management software Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license required Why GEMCO?
