- As an HII Marine Electronics Technician, you will...
- Display levels of quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement, and performance consistent with company values.
- Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment and structures by performing alterations and installations for fleet modernization on US Navy submarines.
- Apply knowledge of production processes towards completion of complicated and non-routine tasks related to installations on shipboard systems and related equipment at company, and/or field locations in accordance with established quality and safety procedures.
- Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, work orders, technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose systems and equipment to efficiently eliminate problems.
- Perform quality inspections on finished products and provide onsite training of employees and customer support personnel when required.
- Perform a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks including duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
- Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
- Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management. What You Must Have
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have a High School diploma, or Trade School or equivalent, and a minimum of 6 years of related shipboard electrical and electronics experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications.
- Must possess a DoD Secret security clearance, at minimum, and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
- Must be able to obtain various shipyard and base access credentials within 30 days of start date and maintain them throughout employment.
- Must adhere to safety and quality procedures set forth by HII and local shipyards.
- Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time when not assigned to local tasking.
- Must provide hand tools and trade specific PPE per trades designation.
- Must have experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical distribution systems and its associated equipment and cabling aboard submarines.
- Must have strong knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, technical manuals, engineering sketches, charts and/or work orders as well as written and verbal instruction for cables and equipment to be installed and connected.
- Must have experience planning and laying out cable runs according to specs, drawings, and proper installation practices, preparing the areas for welding and assisting in the attachment process.
- Must have experience installing, opening, modifying, and logging MCTs, MCPs and stuffing tubes and completing tests for final inspections.
- Must be proficient in proper methods of disconnecting and reconnecting new and existing equipment and completing supporting OQE.
- Must be experienced with the proper, safe usage of multimeters, meggers, and testing procedures.
- Must have multipin connector fabrication experience and certification in accordance with
NSI 009-73.
- Must be able to accurately communicate with Team Leads and co-workers regarding the technical aspects of the work being performed. Preferred Requirements
- Candidates with current Fiber Optic certification and installation experience are highly preferred.
- Candidates with NAVSEA Cableway Improvement Program certifications are highly preferred.
- Candidates experienced with Radio Room and/or CANES equipment installation and troubleshooting are preferred.
- Candidates who have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
- OSHA 10 Maritime Certification is a plus.
