Who We Are Looking For United Pump is looking for a strong operational leader who understands how to lead technical field teams while balancing customer relationships, accountability, process improvement, and department performance. The ideal candidate does not need to be the industry's top technical expert, but they do need to understand how to lead skilled technicians, build trust with field teams, manage urgency without panic, and create systems that improve consistency and performance over time. This person should naturally lean toward servant leadership, proactive problem solving, and people development. They must be capable of balancing empathy with accountability while operating confidently in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift daily. About the Position The Service Manager will oversee the daily operations, profitability, personnel leadership, customer relationships, and long-term growth of United Pump's service department. This individual will lead technicians, partner closely with the service coordinator and field supervisor, oversee departmental accountability, manage customer concerns, support operational process improvements, and help develop a stronger proactive service culture throughout the department. Success in this role will require a strong blend of leadership maturity, operational awareness, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking. Roles & Responsibilities Lead and develop the service department team Oversee department profitability and P&L accountability Conduct employee coaching, accountability conversations, and performance reviews Manage customer relationships and resolve escalated service concerns Support technician development and field engagement Partner with the Field Service Supervisor on technical coordination Review and approve billing escalations and exceptions Improve operational processes and workflow consistency Participate in leadership meetings and strategic initiatives Oversee scheduling alignment and service coordination support Support technician certifications, training, and compliance requirements Monitor department KPIs, workflow, and operational performance Spend time in the field supporting technicians and customers Help build scalable systems and operational structure Qualifications Leadership experience managing field service or technical teams Strong communication and relationship-building skills Experience handling customer-facing operational issues Proven ability to lead accountability conversations Experience managing operational workflows and team coordination Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Financial and operational accountability experience preferred Experience improving systems or operational processes preferred Industry experience in service-based operations strongly preferred Servant leadership mentality and team-oriented mindset required
