Service Person I - Streets

Under the direction of the Street Supervisor, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the maintenance, construction, and repair of streets, roadways, alleys, ditches, dikes, and other public works facilities and/or projects. Operates light vehicles and trucks up to 2 ½ tons, light tractors, and other equipment incidental to the work. Installs signs. Assists the shop mechanic in the repair of equipment and vehicles. Paints as necessary. Performs building and facilities maintenance. Patches potholes, crack fills, and operates jackhammers as necessary. Plows snow, salts and sands streets. Drives paint machine and paints parking stalls, crosswalks, and school crossings. Mows with hand or power mowers. Forms and pours concrete. Responds to after-hours emergencies.
