  • Full-time Plumbing Service Technician Job Description The Plumbing Service Technician performs residential and light commercial plumbing service, repair, and installation work.
This role requires strong hands-on skills, the ability to work independently in the field, and clear communication with customers and team members. Responsibilities Perform service, repair, and installation of residential and light commercial plumbing systems Diagnose issues and complete repairs on plumbing fixtures and systems Install water heaters, water softeners, UV systems, well pumps, and related equipment Work with piping materials including copper, PEX, PVC, CPVC, and cast iron Read and interpret blueprints and technical documents as needed Complete troubleshooting, maintenance, and replacement work Order, pick up, and track parts and materials; process vendor invoices accurately Test completed work to ensure proper operation and code compliance Maintain a clean, organized work truck and job site Complete daily work orders with accurate documentation of work performed and materials used Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers Collaborate with supervisors and coworkers to complete jobs efficiently Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE Report and address unsafe conditions on job sites Maintain company vehicle, including cleanliness and proper operation Perform other duties as needed to support service operations Required Qualifications Plumbing experience in service, repair, and installation (residential and/or light commercial) Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use tools and equipment safely Experience working with copper, PEX, PVC, CPVC, and cast iron piping Ability to install and service water heaters, treatment systems, and pumps Ability to read basic blueprints and technical documents Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Ability to communicate clearly with customers and team members Ability to complete work orders accurately and on time Valid driver's license with a good driving record Ability to lift up to 80-100 lbs and perform physical work (standing, bending, climbing, crawling) Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights using ladders or lifts Additional Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Experience with backflow prevention systems is a plus Familiarity with plumbing tools and equipment Strong attention to detail with documentation and materials tracking Professional, customer-focused attitude Ability to adapt to changing job sites and schedules Why Work Here Small, team-oriented company environment Service area within approximately a one-hour radius Direct-hire opportunity with room for growth Annual 3% cost-of-living increase plus performance-based raises Simple IRA with up to 3% company match 100% employer-paid health insurance (Capital Blue Cross) Optional dental, vision, and disability coverage 10 paid vacation days after 90 days (increasing yearly) 3 unpaid sick days annually 6 paid holidays plus 1 floating holiday Company vehicle, fuel, and maintenance provided Tool program available $500 annual allowance for professional development (with approval) Work Environment Field-based role within a one-hour service radius Primarily first-shift, 8-hour workdays Work performed in residential and light commercial environments Indoor/outdoor work in varying conditions, including confined spaces and heights Work on small crews (typically 2-3 team members) Company van provided after 90 days (or sooner based on performance) Use of standard plumbing tools and materials Emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and professionalism on all job sites
