Job Description

Job Title:
CNC Setup Technician - Wood Department Job Description This role focuses on setting up and supporting woodworking production equipment in a wood-focused manufacturing department. The CNC Setup Technician prepares and adjusts machines such as saws, planers, and jointers for operators, performs G-code edits on CNC equipment, assists with troubleshooting, and supports safe, efficient production. The position also involves material handling with a forklift and serving as a backup supervisor when needed. Responsibilities Set up woodworking production machines, including saws, planers, jointers, and related equipment, so that operators can run production efficiently. Perform G-code edits on CNC machines to fine-tune existing programs for accuracy, quality, and productivity without creating full programs from scratch. Verify machine setups and measurements to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards. Use a forklift to pull and stage raw materials and finished products for production and shipping needs. Monitor machine performance during production, identify issues, and troubleshoot basic mechanical or process problems. Determine when equipment issues require escalation and promptly call in maintenance when necessary. Support safe machine operation by following all safety procedures and ensuring guards, tools, and fixtures are used correctly. Essential Skills At least 3 years of CNC setup experience, including hands-on setup of woodworking or similar production equipment. Ability to edit G-code on CNC machines to adjust existing programs for production needs. Strong woodworking experience, including familiarity with saws, planers, jointers, and other woodshop machinery. Proficiency in using measuring tools and performing accurate measurements to verify part dimensions. Experience troubleshooting production machinery and recognizing when issues require maintenance support. Forklift operating experience for moving and staging materials in a production environment. Why Work Here? You will join a well-established manufacturing operation that specializes in roll suspension and protection solutions, offering the opportunity to work with a variety of unique products and processes. The environment encourages hands-on problem solving and values individuals who take ownership of their work and support their teammates. You can build on your CNC and woodworking expertise while gaining exposure to supervisory responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration. The role offers stable first-shift hours, supporting a more predictable work-life balance. Work Environment This position is based in a wood-focused production department within a larger manufacturing facility that produces roll suspension and protection components such as core plugs, endboards, sleeve plugs, tube closures, and spool components. You will regularly work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to dust from woodworking operations. The environment is loud enough that hearing protection is required, and other appropriate personal protective equipment is expected as needed. Work involves frequent interaction with CNC equipment, woodworking machinery, and forklifts, and you will collaborate with both individual operators and a broader production team. The role follows a first-shift schedule. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenville, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.26/hr.
