Ship Fitter

GLO Resources is hiring a Shipfitter in Waggaman, LA. The pay rate is between $22 - $25 per hour, depending on experience. The schedule is Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional overtime based on project needs.

Position Summary:

This position performs marine ship fitting work, including fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal structures aboard vessels. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, aligning and fitting components, and ensuring all work meets required specifications. This role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards in a shipyard environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Verify workpieces meet specifications using measuring tools such as squares, rulers, and tape measures Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, wedges, pry bars, and other tools Position, align, fit, and weld parts to assemble complete units or subunits Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and layout specifications Measure, mark, and inspect metal materials to ensure accuracy Heat and shape metal components as needed Straighten warped or bent parts using appropriate tools and equipment Smooth edges and assist with installation or repair of taps, tubes, and valves Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times Other duties may be assigned as necessary

Qualifications:

1-3 years of experience performing fitting on vessels and/or ships Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics Strong understanding of ship repair terminology and processes Bilingual is a plus Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills Good communication skills Valid Driver's License required Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
