Shipping and Receiving Clerk - 3rd Shift

Shipping and Receiving Clerk The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products within Chem Link warehouse locations and ensures products are packaged for compliant shipping.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Performs general shipping and receiving duties such as order picking, verifying orders are 100% correct, and general quality checks. 2. Support the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base. 3. Responsible to make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer's purchase order which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions. 4. Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. 5. Responsible for always keeping an adequate supply of materials on hand. 6. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations. 7. Required to make pick-ups and deliveries to our suppliers for parts and raw materials using a company box truck. 8. Complies with all safety, health and regulatory compliance laws and policies. 9. Other responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred, or 3 months of more related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Ability to obtain powered industrial truck permit and safely operate various types of powered industrial trucks. 3. Must have a clean driving record which is determined by insurance carrier. Evidence of clean driving record obtained through state of issuance driver's license report. 4. Must be able to be insured by Chem Link's box truck insurance carrier; driving record report will determine this. 5. Must have the physical ability to pass a DOT physical. 6. Must have or be able to obtain a State of Michigan Chauffer's license. 7. A demonstrated ability to read and follow formulas and instructions. 8. Ability to perform by not limited to the following tasks, be familiar with and able to interpret packing slips, enter into computer the correct information, to acknowledge receipt of the goods into the purchase order and processing database. 9. Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers. 10. Must be capable of estimating weight and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping. 11. Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements. 12. Experience with

UPS/FEDEX

online software if desirable. Experience with Sage is preferred. Basic computer competency is preferred (able to use computer for email, basic data entry, locating and retrieving work documents from shared drives). 13. Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle and have demonstrated experience doing so. 14. Must be confident using a swing reach to pick orders from 20-30 feet high.
