Job Description
2nd Shift Shipping Clerk Job Description The Shipper I supports accurate and timely shipment of products and materials by performing shipping, warehouse support, and inventory movement activities. This role prepares shipments, loads and unloads materials, operates shipping systems and equipment, and maintains shipping records while contributing to a safe and efficient warehouse operation. This position primarily operates on a 2nd shift schedule from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with initial training provided on 1st shift for the first few months to ensure a smooth onboarding. Responsibilities Prepare shipments by accurately picking, packing, labeling, and staging products and materials according to shipping documentation and company procedures. Load and unload trucks, pallets, and other shipments using forklifts and material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Operate shipping systems and equipment, including carrier-specific platforms such as FedEx, to process shipments and generate required documentation. Handle shipping and receiving activities, including verifying incoming and outgoing materials, checking quantities, and ensuring accuracy of paperwork. Perform general material handling tasks, including moving inventory within the warehouse and organizing products in designated storage locations. Support inventory movement and control by accurately recording material transfers and updating records in the system as required. Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory records through basic computer and data entry tasks. Follow written and verbal instructions to complete daily tasks and meet shipping schedules and deadlines. Contribute to safe and efficient warehouse operations by following safety guidelines and using equipment properly. Assist with packaging and repackaging materials to ensure products are protected and meet shipping standards. Support general warehouse housekeeping by keeping work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards. Essential Skills Minimum 1-2 years of experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or a related field preferred. Current forklift certification with the ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment. Basic computer and data entry skills to operate shipping systems and maintain accurate records. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently. Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including handling carrier shipments such as FedEx. Ability to perform standard physical activities such as standing, walking, sitting, and using hands and fingers to operate or handle objects. Ability to perform non-standard physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally in accordance with job requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with material handling, packaging, and inventory movement in a warehouse environment. Familiarity with shipping, receiving, and inventory practices, including use of carrier systems such as FedEx. Comfort working in a potentially loud environment at times. Ability to regularly lift 20-30 pounds as part of daily warehouse activities. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling products, documentation, and data entry. Work Environment You work in a warehouse environment that can be potentially loud at times and involves regular use of forklifts, material handling equipment, and shipping systems such as FedEx. The role requires frequent standing, walking, and handling of materials, as well as occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. You must be able to lift and move 10 pounds frequently, 20-30 pounds regularly, and up to 40 pounds occasionally in line with job requirements. The environment emphasizes safe equipment use, adherence to procedures, and maintaining an orderly, efficient workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ontario, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
