Job Description

Tempstar Staffing has an immediate 1st shift shipping crate builder position. The hours will be Mon - Fri 8am - 430pm and will start at $20.00/hr. Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shipping Crate Builder to join our manufacturing and logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing durable, custom shipping crates and containers designed to protect valuable equipment and materials during transit. The ideal candidate will possess strong carpentry skills, experience with various construction techniques, and the ability to interpret schematics and blueprints. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to efficient shipping operations while utilizing a broad range of construction and fabrication skills. All work performed must adhere to safety standards and quality expectations, ensuring the secure delivery of goods across diverse industries. Responsibilities Construct custom shipping crates using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific size, weight, and protection requirements. Measure, cut, assemble, and reinforce crates with attention to durability and safety standards. Use construction estimating skills to determine material needs and optimize resource utilization. Incorporate various construction methods such as framing, rebar installation, metal stud framing, or masonry as needed for specialized crates. Perform heavy lifting safely when handling large or heavy materials during crate fabrication. Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure crates meet shipping specifications and deadlines. Maintain a clean and organized workspace adhering to safety protocols at all times. Inspect completed crates for quality assurance, making adjustments or repairs as necessary. Utilize woodworking, metalworking, or CNC equipment for precise fabrication when required. Assist in the restoration or repair of existing crates or containers as part of ongoing maintenance. Requirements Proven experience in construction estimating, carpentry (trim, frame, metal stud framing), or related fabrication fields. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery, and schematics reading. Knowledge of construction site procedures including safety standards and heavy lifting techniques. Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and technical drawings. Experience with diverse construction techniques such as concrete forming, plastering, siding installation, roofing, cabinetry, door hanging, or flooring installation is a plus. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting heavy materials consistently throughout shifts. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes related to crate fabrication and assembly. Prior experience in restoration industry work or water damage restoration projects is advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in measuring and assembly tasks. Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members across departments.
