Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the classroom as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This contract role is perfect for professionals eager to support a vibrant kindergarten student as she builds her confidence and abilities in sign language. Work closely with a dynamic team that includes a teacher fluent in sign, providing a supportive learning environment for both you and the student. Your expertise will play a crucial part in shaping this young learner's educational journey, offering direct guidance and encouragement as she gains foundational signing skills. Desired Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, particularly in educational settings preferred Ability to work 1:1 with students, adapting to individual needs and learning paces Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and empowering environment Certification or credentialing consistent with state and school requirements for educational interpreting
Key Responsibilities:
Provide in-person sign language interpretation for a kindergarten student throughout her school day Foster communication between the student, teachers, and classmates Support the student's ongoing development in sign language, offering encouragement and instructional guidance Collaborate with school staff, including the fluent Kinder teacher, to promote a cohesive and supportive classroom environment Maintain confidentiality and high professional standards in all interactions Make lasting connections and help a young student thrive both academically and socially.
