Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type All Job Types Bring your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) to a rewarding opportunity supporting students in an educational setting. As a sign language interpreter, you'll assist in creating inclusive, accessible learning environments by facilitating communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff. This is an excellent chance to make a direct impact while working in a supportive school community located near the scenic beauty of northern Minnesota.
Requirements and Desired Qualifications:
Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent) Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture Previous experience in an educational setting or with student populations preferred Ability to interpret and transliterate in academic, social, and extracurricular settings Strong communication and interpersonal skills Flexibility and adaptability within diverse school environments
Key Responsibilities:
Provide interpretation services for students, teachers, and school staff during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities Foster positive relationships with students to encourage participation and learning Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure student needs are met Adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards in all interpreting situations Support students' language development and advocate for their communication needs Participate in team meetings and assist with the development of individualized education plans, as needed This opportunity offers the flexibility to explore different assignment types, allowing you to find the work arrangement that fits your lifestyle and career goals.
