Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students and educators in an engaging school environment. This full-time, contract-based position offers you the chance to make a meaningful difference throughout the academic year, working closely with diverse learners in a supportive educational setting. With positions available onsite and possible virtual options as the year unfolds, you'll enjoy both consistency and flexibility in your workday.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated interpreting skills Valid EIPA score of 3.5 (with completion of the EIPA Written portion) Experience working within educational settings is highly valued Ability to adapt communication style for individual student needs Professionalism, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative spirit
Responsibilities:
Provide interpretation services to facilitate communication between students, staff, and families Support students' access to curriculum and daily school activities Accurately convey spoken information into sign language and vice versa Collaborate with teachers, other interpreters, and support staff to ensure seamless educational participation Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district guidelines and best practices Flexibly transition to possible virtual interpreting if needed during the school year
