Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference by supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting on a contract basis. Located in the welcoming Nashwauk, MN area, this dynamic opportunity allows you to utilize your expertise to bridge communication and foster an inclusive learning environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpretation skills. Experience interpreting in school settings or with children is highly valued. Current EIPA, RID, or state certification/credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and students. Professional, compassionate, and adaptable to varying classroom needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clear, accurate, and confidential ASL interpretation for students in a variety of classroom and school activities. Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers to enhance understanding and participation. Assist with the interpretation of instruction, discussions, assignments, and extracurricular activities. Adapt interpreting style to suit the educational setting and individual student needs. Support IEP implementation and participate in relevant meetings as needed. Maintain accurate documentation and uphold professional ethical standards.
