Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in sign language interpreting to a rewarding contract role working closely with students who rely on your communication skills. This position is ideal for a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter with a passion for supporting access to education. In this role, you'll provide crucial 1:1 interpreting services for a student within a school district, helping to bridge communication gaps and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Relevant certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter Experience working in educational settings or with children preferred Ability to interpret in 1:1 settings, adapting to the unique needs of the student Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Sensitivity to confidentiality, diversity, and the needs of students with various backgrounds
Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality sign language interpreting services for 1:1 communication between a student and educators, peers, and school staff Facilitate understanding, participation, and inclusion in classroom and school activities Accurately and impartially interpret spoken communications into sign language, and vice versa Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times Collaborate with teachers and school personnel to support the student's academic and social success Provide feedback or insights to the educational team as appropriate, advocating for the student's needs Step into a supportive school community where your skills will make a genuine difference in a student's daily experience.
