Since our founding in 1984, we have helped conserve nearly one square mile of elk country every day. In partnership with others, we have conserved or enhanced more than 9.2 million acres, including improving public access to more than 1.6 million acres. Our impact will extend to 10 million acres by 2030. Building on this momentum, RMEF is seeking Social Media and Content Manager to proactively create and deliver relevant and engaging content across RMEF's digital platforms, with a strong emphasis on organic social storytelling. This role will help bring the mission work, conservation impact, and hunting heritage of RMEF to life through compelling social first content that resonates with audiences across various platforms. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller and content creator who understands how to capture organizational impact and translate them into digital content that builds community and inspires support and strengthens brand connection. This individual should be highly attuned to the evolving social trends and have ability to adapt to platform behavior while maintaining the integrity and voice of the RMEF brand.
Key Responsibilities include:
Manage RMEF's and OutdoorClass social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, and others) under direction of department leadership Plan, source, edit and produce engaging photos and short-form video content under the direction of department leadership for use across RMEF's and OutdoorClass's social media platforms, website, digital communication pieces, and email marketing campaigns ensuring alignment with RMEF's mission and brand identity Lead day organic social campaigns for RMEF and OutdoorClass across Meta and similar platforms Develop, support, and maintain a strategic, platform-specific social content calendar in alignment with revenue, marketing, and communications goals Monitor and report on social engagement across platforms, manage community interactions responding to comments, messages and mentions while identifying trends and opportunities for increased visibility, audience growth and engagement Analyze organic social content and campaign performance, providing data-driven reports and actionable insights Support outreach efforts with sponsors, influencers, and content partners in collaboration with department leadership Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to support integrated campaigns and consistent messaging across digital channels Assist in identifying emerging social media trends, platform updates, and audience engagement while supporting the development of social media best practices, workflows, and content standards
Location:
RMEF's Social Media & Content Manager is based at RMEF's Headquarters office in Missoula, Montana fulltime.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, journalism, public relations, or a related field preferred (equivalent combination of education, job-related training and experience may be considered) Three to five years of professional experience in overseeing social media platforms for a brand or organization Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating and leading impactful social media content strategies that specialize in short-form video and compelling digital storytelling
Essential Functions:
Manage RMEF's and OutdoorClass social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, and others) under direction of department leadership, including content creation/planning, scheduling, publishing, monitoring, and performance tracking. Plan, source, edit and produce engaging photos and short-form video content under the direction of department leadership for use across RMEF's and OutdoorClass's social media platforms, website, digital communication pieces, and email marketing campaigns ensuring alignment with RMEF's mission and brand identity. Lead day organic social campaigns for RMEF and OutdoorClass across Meta and similar platforms. Develop, support, and maintain a strategic, platform-specific social content calendar in alignment with revenue, marketing, and communications goals while collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure integrated campaigns and consistent messaging across digital channels. Monitor and report on social engagement across platforms, manage community interactions responding to comments, messages and mentions while identifying trends and opportunities for increased visibility, audience growth and engagement. Analyze organic social content and campaign performance, providing data-driven reports and actionable insights to optimize future strategies and improve audience engagement to department leadership. Support outreach efforts with sponsors, influencers, and content partners in collaboration with department leadership to amplify RMEF's and OutdoorClass's digital presence and grow audience engagement. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to support integrated campaigns and consistent messaging across digital channels. Assist in identifying emerging social media trends, platform updates, and audience engagement while supporting the development of social media best practices, workflows, and content standards to improve efficiency and consistency across platforms.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and support of RMEF's mission, goals, and activities. Must be able to present self in a professional manner and effectively communicate to and develop relationships with a wide range of individuals, including staff, corporate partners, volunteers, members and other RMEF customers. Skilled at initiating and coordinating photo, video, and graphic content production projects by collaborating effectively with brand communications, creative and marketing teams. Expertise in digital scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Agorapulse, Klaviyo, Wrike, Google Analytics, etc.) to optimize content reach and engagement. Proficient in advanced video- and photo-editing software, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, Figma and Canva, with a focus on producing high-quality, mission-aligned content. Continuously applies knowledge of digital marketing principles, SEO, and CMS platforms to improve content visibility and user experience. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, proactively crafting clear, persuasive, and accurate messaging for diverse audiences. Highly organized and adaptable, consistently prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines while driving collaboration and innovation in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Physical Demands:
The employee must sit or stand for long periods of time; use a computer terminal; reach forward and to the side; bend from both standing and sitting position; and lift items weighing various pounds. Some travel may be required including overnight stays. Evening and weekend work may occasionally be necessary.
