Jog Road, WPB 34964 This is an entry-level professional floodplain development work. Work involves reviewing development and building permit applications to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local floodplain management regulations, including Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) standards and Florida Building Code. The employee researches historical building permits and assists in substantial damage determinations for affected properties. Maintains records for the Community Rating System (CRS), National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and related activities. Performs verification of Floodplain Elevation Certification (FEC). Work is performed with relative independence on routine technical matters within the scope of professional planning methods and procedures. Supervision is received from designated superiors who review work for the attainment of desired results by analysis of work procedures and assistance on difficult problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following: A Bachelor's Degree in Urban and/or Regional Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field, OR An unrelated Bachelor's Degree; minimum of two (2) years of experience working with FEMA regulations and the Florida Building Code, OR An Associate's Degree in Urban and/or Regional Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field; minimum of two (2) years of experience working with FEMA regulations and the Florida Building Code, OR Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of experience working with FEMA regulations and the Florida Building Code.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
The selected candidate for this position: Must obtain certification as an Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Certified Floodplain Manager within 11 months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include: Valid certification as an ASFPM Certified Floodplain Manager, Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a governmental environment, and Experience with administering Floodplain regulations.
