Job Description

Bureau Manager Demolition Under general direction, supervises the various operations of the Demolition Bureau. Assists in the development and enforcement of Bureau policies and procedures. Supervises the demolition contracting and bidding processes. Reviews and approves payment of billings. Assists the Department Director with the preparation of annual budgets as requested. Monitors and evaluates budget expenditures. Directs the preparation of, and analyzes reports to ensure compliance with contract requirements, reporting requirements, and performance metrics. Directs and performs statistical and other analyses of contracts and programs to assess their effectiveness and adjusts or modifies operations to ensure maximum effectiveness. Exercises supervision of personnel in related areas of responsibility. Manages special project assignments related to building demolition, as requested. Provides expertise concerning hazardous building materials. Serves as Building and Housing liaison with community groups and makes public presentations and appears at community meetings as requested. Performs other job-related duties as required. Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Public Administration, or closely related field required; a graduate degree in Public Administration, Law, or other related field is preferred. A minimum of two years of full-time paid experience in construction, demolition, or environmental remediation required. Must possess strong analytical, managerial, and communication skills. Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required. Additional Duties Strong, self-starting, detail-oriented leader needed to lead the city's Demolition Bureau. This role will work closely with the Division of Code Enforcement, the Law Department to prioritize and expedite demolition activity. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential as this role will regularly interact with outside vendors, City Council, multiple city departments, and outside stakeholders. Will work with inside and outside counsel as necessary on litigation and collection matters. Strong analytical, organizational, and budgeting skills are needed in this role to oversee efficient operations. Ideal candidate will possess a solid working knowledge of environmental compliance laws related to demolition. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Accela and
NEOCANDO/NST
data system strongly preferred.
