Senior Planner SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.JOB SUMMARY
RND is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Planner with 10-15 years of professional experience in transportation planning and real estate development. This role will lead complex planning initiatives that integrate land use, mobility, and development strategy, supporting both public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of how transportation systems and real estate projects intersect, with the ability to guide projects from concept through implementation. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage transportation and land use planning projects, including corridor studies, TOD (Transit-Oriented Development), master plans, and site feasibility analyses Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across planning, engineering, and real estate development Conduct and oversee market, demographic, and mobility analyses to inform development strategies Advise clients on zoning, entitlement processes, and regulatory frameworks Develop and present planning recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and public agencies Support public engagement strategy, including community meetings and stakeholder outreach Identify and pursue new business opportunities; contribute to proposals and client development Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance and quality control Collaborate with real estate professionals on site selection, highest-and-best-use studies, and development programming Integrate sustainability, resilience, and multimodal transportation principles into planning efforts Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Real Estate Development, or a related field (Master's preferred) 10-15 years of relevant professional experience Demonstrated experience in both transportation planning and real estate/development projects Strong knowledge of zoning, land use regulations, and entitlement processes Experience managing projects, budgets, and client relationships Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills Proficiency in relevant tools (e.g., GIS, transportation modeling tools, Excel, PowerPoint) Preferred Qualifications AICP certification (or ability to obtain) Experience with Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and public-private partnerships Familiarity with regional transportation agencies and planning processes Background working with municipalities, MPOs, developers, or real estate investment firms Experience in financial feasibility or pro forma analysis Work Environment & Expectations Hybrid or office-based Occasional travel for client meetings and public engagement Fast-paced, collaborative environment with high-impact projectsBenefits Summary:
