Job Description

The Director coordinates development review, permit review and permitting processes, and floodplain management for the City of Eastland. Reviews permit applications, subdivision plats and site plans for compliance with city codes and regulations. Provides staff support to the City Commission, Historic Board, Planning and Zoning Board and Board of Adjustment, and prepares long and short range plans and programs related to the growth and development of the City of Eastland. Assist with other departments as assigned. Reports to the City Manager.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of principles and practices of city planning as they pertain to land development; Knowledge of common municipal regulations, codes and floodplain management processes pertaining to planning and development review; Ability to read, understand and interpret codes, regulations, maps, plans and other technical materials; Ability to review subdivision plats and site plans to determine compliance with applicable regulations; Ability to research and write planning and development related ordinances, plans and reports; Ability to effectively work and communicate, both orally and in writing, with citizens, customers, elected and appointed officials and other contacts; Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with co-workers, subordinates and customers; Computer application skills to include Word, Power Point, Excel Spreadsheet, GIS and/or other graphics programs; Perform related duties as required. High School Diploma or GED required, some college preferred. Will consider equivalent combination of experience and education, which provides the knowledge, abilities and skills required for the job. Must obtain a plumbing inspection license, FEMA Floodplain Management Certification and TDH Code Enforcement Officer Certification within one year from date of hire, and possess a valid Texas driver s license. Salary Dependent on Experience
