  • Full-time About the role: Reporting to the Vice President
  • US Sales & Marketing, the role of Director, Global Energy Analytics will lead Peabody's global market analysis and research, providing clear insights into market trends for the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and other key internal and external stakeholders. The role champions short
  • and long-term price forecasts across all products and presents findings in a detailed but concise manner for internal forums and external engagements.
Duties will include:
Lead analytical coverage of global markets across Peabody platforms, including electric power, thermal coal, metallurgical coal and steel markets, and competing fuels (natural gas, oil, wind/renewables, nuclear, hydro). Develop and present materials supporting the Annual Strategic Plan, Portfolio Reviews, and Budget, including weekly/monthly/quarterly market reporting for ELT and Board presentations. Build supply/demand forecasts, analyze global market balances, and identify priorities for strategic planning and corporate development, with deep-dive analytics focused on the U.S. and key international demand/supply centers. Lead Peabody's Market & Pricing Committee, developing price forecasts for commercial sales, long-term strategic and Life-of-Mine planning, budgeting/financial planning, and short-term trading—incorporating supply/demand balances, global price linkages, marginal cost of production, and incentive pricing for new supply. Track and assess impacts of global environmental and legislative efforts affecting coal use domestically and internationally. Negotiate contractual rates with consultants/vendors and manage publication contracts with marketing entities to optimize financial outcomes. Represent Peabody through public speaking engagements at industry conferences, government and trade entities, and key industry groups. Lead special projects and/or committees as assigned.

This position is a full-time role, working from our corporate headquarters in St Louis, MO. Peabody offers flexible work policies, including hybrid office / home working arrangements. Target salary range for this role is $201,000

About you:
Qualifications:
Degree in business, economics, finance, engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred. Extensive industry experience in energy/mining/utility/transportation; 20+ years' relevant experience. Experience with a multi-national corporation (preferably mining, energy, or commodities-based business). Experience & capabilities: Deep knowledge of global energy industry and markets. Strong understanding of commodity pricing with demonstrated price forecasting and scenario analysis experience. Executive-level communication and stakeholder influence; confident presenting to senior leadership and external audiences. Strong analytical capability and attention to detail; proven problem-solving and independent decision support. Ability to work across operational and corporate functions and build positive working relationships with internal and external parties. Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment. Ability to lead, motivate, and effectively delegate responsibilities. Demonstrated customer service mindset.
Physical Requirements:
