Job Description

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is the principal fact-finding agency for the federal government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. The BLS is an independent national statistical agency that collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates essential statistical data to the American public, the U.S. Congress, other federal agencies, state and local governments, business, and labor. The BLS also serves as a statistical resource to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet qualifications, legal and regulatory requirements for the position by the closing date of this announcement. GS-06: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Examples of qualifying experience may include: Use computers and various computer softwares to collect, compile, analyze and/or report primary data; OR Initiate contacts with a full range of establishments, such as corporate authorizing officials, store owners, managers, merchandise managers, buyers, hospital administrators and/or various professionals to price goods and services; OR Interviewer or in-take experience that required detailed record-keeping and/or oral persuasion skills with public contact.
